ARLINGTON, Texas – The
Cotton Bowl Foundation enjoyed a record-setting campaign for
North Texas Giving Day 2023, raising an all-time high of $92,750 to support the 25th anniversary of the Goodyear Cotton Bowl Classic Art Contest.
The dollar amount raised came from 57 donors, including $25,000 matching grants each from Amazon and the College Football Playoff Foundation. Amazon, the presenting sponsor of North Texas Giving Day, surprised the official foundation of the Goodyear Cotton Bowl Classic on the actual day of giving (Sept. 21)
live on WFAA-TV's Daybreak with an additional $10,000 donation.
All money raised from this year's North Texas Giving Day campaign is going to amplify the impact of the 25th anniversary of the Classic's Art Contest, fund $500 grants for art supplies and create experiences for elementary students across North Texas.
"Our Art Contest is one of the treasured traditions that has been a part of our Goodyear Cotton Bowl Classic experience for so many years," said Dave Brown, Chair, Cotton Bowl Athletic Association and Cotton Bowl Foundation. "We are so thankful for the support we received that will allow us to make this anniversary extra special. We will be able to enhance the impact of the Art Contest and expand its reach to art classes and programs all across our North Texas community."
The
Goodyear Cotton Bowl Classic Art Contest Presented by Amazon supports elementary art teachers throughout North Texas in a competition where every child who participates is a winner. Every student's work is laminated and used as gifts and placemats during Cotton Bowl Classic week events. The first, second and third-place winners have their artwork proudly displayed at their schools and AT&T Stadium near the Cotton Bowl Athletic Association offices throughout the year. This year, the winners and their art teachers will be honored on the field at AT&T Stadium during the 88th Goodyear Cotton Bowl Classic.
The Cotton Bowl Foundation's strong North Texas Giving Day campaign was a part of another landmark one for the
Communities Foundation of Texas, which saw $63.9 million raised by 97,000+ donors for 3,249 nonprofits.
