Cotton Bowl Foundation Extends $15,000 Grant to Texas High School Coaches Association

ARLINGTON, Texas – The Cotton Bowl Foundation extended its giving efforts to the Texas High School Coaches Association (THSCA) with a $15,000 grant to support a new initiative targeting up-and-coming coaches.

Earlier this year, THSCA launched the R.O.C.K. (Rare, Outstanding, Compelled, Knowledgeable) Coaches Mentoring Program, which pairs the best and brightest young coaches with seasoned mentors to create networking and educational opportunities and spark better retention among coaches looking to grow in the profession. THSCA created this initiative for the 36,000 coaches across its 23,000-member association, especially with the fact that Texas is one of a few states where high school coaches also must be certified teachers.

"The Texas High School Coaches Association and Texas High School Coaches Education Foundation are proud to once again receive a grant from the Cotton Bowl Foundation to support our R.O.C.K. Coaches Mentoring Program," said  Joe Martin, THSCA Executive Director. "The important mission of this program is to help develop the young coaches and nurture their passion for the profession, the student-athletes of this state, and the communities they serve. This gift from the Cotton Bowl Foundation reinforces the tremendous efforts of our Texas coaches and emphasizes the importance of a coach's influence. We are honored that they have chosen to join us in our mission of Helping Coaches to Help Kids."
