Cotton Bowl Foundation Sets Giving, Donors Record for 2022 North Texas Giving Day

ARLINGTON, Texas North Texas Giving Day 2022 was a historic one for the Cotton Bowl Foundation.

The official foundation of the Goodyear Cotton Bowl Classic raised an all-time high of $75,606 to purchase Hero Wagons, in partnership with Radio Flyer and Starlight Children's Foundation. The dollar amount raised will help place 300 Hero Wagons at Scottish Rite Hospital for Children, Children's Health, other children's hospitals in the North Texas community and children's hospitals in the local communities of the institutions that will compete in the 87th Classic.

The dollar amount raised came from a record number of 110 donors, including a $20,000 matching donation from Radio Flyer, a $10,000 donation from Cotton Bowl Athletic Association Council Chairman Joseph DeWoody, a $10,000 donation from an anonymous donor and a surprise $10,000 donation from Amazon. Amazon, the presenting title sponsor of North Texas Giving Day, picked the Cotton Bowl Foundation as one of five organizations to surprise with a donation and delight with gifts and goodies this year on the actual day (Sept. 22) of the largest community-wide giving event in the nation designed to empower every person to give back to their community by supporting local nonprofits.

"What we accomplished on North Texas Giving Day is a perfect example of what can happen when you partner with the right organizations for the right reasons," said Dave Brown, Chairman, Cotton Bowl Athletic Association and Cotton Bowl Foundation. "Clayton Moorse and his parents Cody and Lauren were the reason behind our 'why'. Their inspiration and Clayton's determination fueled our collective desire to make a lasting impact in the lives of kids and families that seek care and comfort in our community."

"We're honored to team up with the Cotton Bowl Foundation, along with Radio Flyer, for this year's North Texas Giving Day campaign that will bring happiness to hospitalized kids at a time when they need it most," said Adam Garone, Chief Executive Officer, Starlight Children's Foundation. "The Hero Wagon is a fun alternative to wheelchairs and stretchers when used as temporary transportation from room to room and also serves as a joyful way for hospital staff to deliver toys and supplies to patient rooms."

Radio Flyer's Hero Wagons are specifically designed to accommodate the hospital environment and provide comfort to kids who need it most. Each compact folding wagon features an IV attachment on the back of the frame that folds away when not in use. The fabric is a medical-grade vinyl that makes this the easiest wagon to clean. Each Hero Wagon also features seat belts and a padded seat for safety and comfort. Doctors, nurses, child life specialists and caregivers across the country rely on these Hero Wagons every day as an integral part of a child's pediatric care.

"The Hero Wagon is especially near and dear to the hearts of the Radio Flyer team, as it encapsulates so much of what we strive for as a company," said Robert Pasin, Chief Wagon Officer, Radio Flyer. "Our mission is to bring smiles to all children and create warm memories that last a lifetime. If we can help bring even one smile to kids enduring some of their hardest times, we've exceeded that mission with the Hero Wagon."

The Hero Wagons are scheduled to be delivered to area children's hospitals during bowl week of the 87th Goodyear Cotton Bowl Classic and are slated to be on display when the participating teams visit Scottish Rite and Children's Medical Center during their time in North Texas.

The Cotton Bowl Foundation's record-setting North Texas Giving Day was a part of another landmark one for the Communities Foundation of Texas, which saw $62.6 million raised by 94,385 donors for 3,200 nonprofits.
